Justin Teh

Self-introduction: My name is Justin Teh, I’m a junior at Valley Christian High School in California. I’ve spent a year on the school’s underwater robotics team (MATE ROV), where I designed the mechanical structure and robotic arm. In my second year, I was elected President of the Navigator team, and I now represent Valley Christian in underwater robotics competitions. After attending the USNA’s summer STEM program, I became even more interested in engineering, and in 9th grade, I took a college-level introduction to engineering class. My goal is to become a mechanical engineer. Outside of school, I’m a 1st-degree black belt in Taekwondo, play junior varsity badminton, and volunteer on the audio-visual team at Uchannel TV. I’ve also worked with autistic children and went on a mission trip to Pine Ridge, South Dakota, where I ran STEM workshops for local kids. In my free time, I enjoy playing the saxophone and cooking, especially grilled lobster and pan-seared steak. Right now, I’m participating in the Wharton Investment Competition, exploring my interest in finance. Looking ahead, I hope to delve deeper into the field of mechanical engineering during my college years, actively participating in engineering projects and competitions to gain practical experience. At the same time, I plan to continue volunteering, applying the skills and knowledge I learn to real-world situations, and aim to become an outstanding mechanical engineer dedicated to designing innovative technology.
